How is it week 6 already!!
The course and the year is flying by.
This week we got to look at a range of teacher sites and consider the Visual Appeal, Site functionality and User Experience. It was really helpful to see a range of sites and consider what works well or doesn't any why.
We spent most of the day in our little Uru Manuka cluster, giving feedback on the functionality of each others sites, then working on our sites to make changes.
My goals for my site changes today were: To change the background colours of different sections of my Hurumanu pages, fix broken links and locked documents/images, and add some "Back to top" buttons for pages with lots of scrolling.
I am really grateful for the suggestions as they are little things that will make a huge difference to the students using my site. I am especially pleased with changing the background colours, as it now makes it more obvious to the year 9's the different sections of work :)
The hardest part of doing the visual aspects of my blog is not getting carried away, I have tried so many colour schemes, fonts, etc over the last few days, then changed the images, backgrounds and buttons to match, it goes on and on! As well as hyperlinking heading and other settings to make using and sharing it easier :) This side of my site I have not paid much attention to, as I have been busy with just getting content ready in time, for all of my different classes. So I have been loving taking a step back to do this, and now that I have I think in future everything will start coming together more easily. And I feel so much happier using and seeing my site!

Awesome work Jayne! I really like the changes you have made to your site. Not that it wasn't good beforehand but now the user experience has definitely been improved. The colours for the different sections make it really clear and your back to top buttons will make work flow easier for the students.
ReplyDeleteYour first sentence, tell me about it! I can not believe we are nearly into MAY! At least it has been an exciting journey!

I even had a call with a few students and showed them the colours! It has made a huge difference to them knowing how it is broken up- Thankyou for the advice :)
