Today was the last day of the course, we had some time to talk and share resources that we use, and had a presentation on "Engaging students in science using storytelling and filmmaking". It has been a wonderful week being at Otago, and experiencing Hall life at uni. It has been amazing seeing the biology opportunities down here! I am so envious of the options. I have also really enjoyed talking with science teachers around New Zealand and hearing how different schools and departments do things. I have made some great connections and friendships that I know will help me with all sorts of things in my teaching.
We listened to a presentation from Dr Kaitlyn Martin, where she discussed her research for her PhD. This was centred around seeing if students enthusiasm and engagement increased following projects using film making. Kaitlyn also shared with us some really helpful websites with ideas for mixing up assessment delivery.
